Good turn out at Try Bowls

Yesterday, Sunday 29 May, we held an Open Day/Try Bowls event. The weather held up for us and there was good attendance from a wide spectrum of ages. There were fun games on and off the green with sweets and small prizes, a bouncy castle for the children, a BBQ and the bar was open.

There certainly seems to be potential for new members, time will tell.

At the end of the day, there was a prize draw. The first prize was won by Elaine Hutchison with runner-up prizes for Clair Howland and Jan Wood.

It was good to see a number of members at the club in addition to those who had volunteered to help.

Special thanks to Scott Craig who donated the main prize for the prize draw. Richard Guy for his hot work on the BBQ, Linda McKenzie and Carol McGown, Jas Robertson and our two Club coaches Clair Howland and Jamie Grant both of whom put in long shifts on the green. Jamie also designed the green layout and the fun games. A special mention for our “meeter and greeter” Phil Howarth and to Jimmy McKenzie who seemed glued to the bar all afternoon (the working side!).
